Tier 5 Visa - Criteria
Not everyone who was eligible for a UK working holiday visa will be able to apply for a Tier 5 visa. It is envisaged there will be a number of criteria including:Age - Applicants for the UK Youth Mobility Scheme (Tier 5 Visa) should be aged between 18 and 30.
Participating countries - A participating country is where a country offers the same opportunity to the youth of UK, for example they offer a similar type of visa to the Tier 5 visa. Additional criteria will be the level of immigration risk and return arrangements. Each year a list will be issued with no one country receiving more than 1000 places.
Certificate of Sponsorship – The certificate is issued by your country of citizenship and provides an assurance to the UK that you will abide by the terms of the Youth Mobility Scheme.If your country is not participating in the scheme you will be ineligible for the Tier 5 visa and need to ascertain whether you can make an application under a different visa category.
Previous UK visa’s held - For individuals who have already had a UK visa issued under the working holiday visa category you are unable to apply under the UK Youth Mobility Scheme (Tier 5 Visa).
Maintenance - The ability to support yourself in the UK and for these purposes applicants need to show an amount of ?1600.
Point based - To qualify for a Tier 5 visa applicants will need to achieve a score of 50 points.
Age - 10 points
Sponsorship - 30 points

Tier 5 Visa - Duration Options
The Tier 5 visa is designed as a short term visa and is issued for a maximum of 2 years. It must be your intention to leave the UK after the period your visa is issued for.For spouses and partners wishing to accompany applicants for the UK Youth Mobility (Tier 5 Visa) they must make separate applications and meet the prevailing criteria. These applications can be made under any of the categories where they may meet the criteria.
No dependants are allowed to accompany the applicant under the UK Youth Mobility Scheme (Tier 5 Visa).
